Brennan knew he was headed to Stockholm for the next Valor show and he dreaded it, outright disgusted because ugh, foreign people. He could never understand them, they could never understand him. It was always a frustrating experience and he had tried to get a Swedish liaison and member of his entourage once, but Fjorg didn’t work out. Still, he contemplated his adventure coming soon in Sweden when he was alerted to the camera being on in front of him and he immediately went into talking. Sitting back against a chair inside of his gym where he had been working out throughout the day, prepping for his future which looked to be heavy in matches through the year. BRENNAN DEVLIN “So much for all that big talk. When we faced off, all Cosmo Cooper could do was yap his cocksucker about how any response to him was ‘following the leader’, how because if he showed up first, he was setting the pace, blah, blah, blah. Then he had a draw with me. Once he had the draw, then it became ‘well, I tied with Brennan so Brennan isn’t as good as he says’. You really can’t please some people, right? At first, I couldn’t hang with him, at first, I was a person past my prime and he was going to steamroll me. Show passes by and… He didn’t steamroll me? He didn’t beat me… in fact, I hung with him, outright surpassed him throughout, I challenged him and he gave it his all. He did, he threw everything he could at me and while he kept up with me, I’ll give him that… He still kind of… didn’t do as he predicted? He didn’t you know, ‘win’ or ‘succeed’ or ‘show me that I’m an old guy past my prime’ or make it clear that I was ‘at my best like two years ago’. No, what he did was… very little in the greater scheme of things. Go figure, right? A guy comes into a company, talks this big, big game, he tells us all how he’s gonna lead Valor into the promised land and it means out with the old, in with the new, the new being him… And then, he doesn’t deliver much of anything, really. We put on a good match, sure, but let me let you in on a little secret in our circle of professional wrestling that hasn’t been a secret in fucking years. I always put on the best match of the night, I always am the person everyone ends up talking about when all is said and done… You know why that is? Because I’m the Face of fucking Wrestling and it’s not always a job I’m thanked for, it's not always a job I’m even acknowledged for. Sometimes I’m forced to the side while people try to place someone into my area of expertise, while people like Vanessa Byrne try to create a new face they can control. But as always, I force myself back to the forefront and remind each and every one of you why I am the absolute best this business has had to offer and will have to offer for a very long time, Cosmo found out. It’s not just Cosmo I’m dealing with this time around though, in due time, sure. In due time I’ll deal with him again and I’ll take the Apex Championship that I have proven myself deserving of from day one. For now, though, we’ve got ourselves some tag team competition! That being said, I’m usually not a tag team sort of guy. I’ve turned on more tag partners than I’ve actually had in my day, actually. You guys ever just like, have it dawn on you one day that you’re like… I don’t know, some kind of an asshole? That’s me right now and it’s like, yeah, I accept it but… something about me for this show, in particular, is making me feel downright, I don’t know… like I want to succeed in a tag team setting, maybe it was all that working with Brenda? Who knows? Trick question, I know! I feel like being a part of a team! But this team doesn’t have matching t-shirts, we’re not aligned for the purpose of getting to the big game like in classic Adam Sandler film The Longest Yard. No, our team of Davy Blossom, the zombie from Siberia and myself are all aligned for one singular purpose… You look around that ring when you talk about that match, you look at us all and you see a lot of things, but in our team, in particular, you get things you only get in Valor Pro Wrestling. You get fuckin’ Siberia Zombie, my favorite zombie, since Eddy Poe. Siberia Zombie has been here from day one, you might see all sorts of other zombies everywhere else, but you only get her right here in Valor. She’s our Zombie.” Brennan looked at his hand for a moment, as if something was written on it. BRENNAN DEVLIN “She may have been an import, born a… Yu… yuk… yuckygear.. Yukaghir… Metal Gear along the Kolyma River? Hideo Kojima's river? Something, then she went to Moscow, then somehow ended up in Zombie Vice Squad, but what I know her for? It’s being right here in Valor tearing up the card every week and not getting a bit of respect for her effort. Well, I respect your efforts, I applaud them, my undead amigo. You are a talent all of you watching at home or in the arena can only see in Valor in singles competition and I am god damn proud. You should be proud and better yet, I am elated to call you my teammate… Then, then my other partner, a man almost as enchanting, as divine as myself in Davy Blossom. Much like Siberia Zombie, you only get to witness the majesty, the grandeur that is Davy Blossom right here, right here in Valor Pro. You get to bear witness to a man who is much like myself, as if the heavens opened up and gifted him into this company, in that ring and on all of your television sets. A man who should make Valor Pro happy to have as a piece on the board in this game we play and once again, another person I am delighted to call my teammate.” He clapped as if he were truly excited to team with Blossom, though some of it seemed as if he were buttering the man up, there was a hint that Devlin had found an angle to work with this entire situation. BRENNAN DEVLIN “The pattern that aligns us all is that you can only see each and every one of us right here in Valor Pro Wrestling. We are the reason you tune in, we are the reason to turn on the stinkin’ television because… let’s be honest, you can see our opponents anywhere, everywhere. From them being in and out of 4 Corners, to trash tier lesbian wrestling promotions, to whatever high school gym opens this week that’s willing to give them a paycheck to show their faces. Anything to get their grubby booger hooks on a meager sum of cash. Our opponents are a group of people you can see… anywhere, really. They lack the ability to be ‘true’ to the business to the point they hurt their own brand by being anywhere that is willing to open the door. If you want to see Cosmo Cooper if you want to see Roxi Johnson if you want to see Brodie… You can glance at their twitter feeds and go see them in any one of one hundred places where they just work for a quick paycheck. But if you want to see people who live and breathe Valor Pro Wrestling, if you want to see people who bleed this companies colors? Look at our team, because we are Valor Pro Wrestling. We are the ones who stick with it, we are the ones who are first to get here, last to leave. When Cosmo Cooper has to run out the door early because he’s wrestling for some flophouse whatever CWC offshoot has opened this week, who’s here? Us.” Brennan eased over a bit, peering into the camera and smiling. He was manipulating this match, this game he played from afar. Painting himself as a conquering hero bent to help Valor against this new change. BRENNAN DEVLIN “Consider this a call to arms, anyone that represents professional wrestling, those who represent Valor Pro Wrestling. We don’t want the indy darlings, the shitty YouTubers, the stupid Twitter lesbians, and other changes Vanessa Byrne is trying to make. Valor Pro Wrestling was not broken and you know what? Now it’s shattered. It’s broken because we went from a company where people can work their asses off like that Unyielding Championship match last show to somewhere where our brain-dead boss tries to hand off a championship to a guy who’s hard-pressed to even talk about this company in his own fucking promotional material. I keep hearing how all these new acquisitions like Cosmo Cooper, Vannah and so on are going to make a ‘new’ Valor Pro. Here’s the thing about ‘new’ things in wrestling, or in life in general. Nobody likes ‘new’. Nobody wanted ‘new’ Coke, nobody wants the ‘new’ She-Ra, nobody likes ‘new’ anything. You hook people on one thing, then suddenly you try to change the formula and people fight back against that new, strange brew you’re trying to force on them because they liked it the way it was. I know you’re all probably laughing but, let's look at someone like… Brodie. I may not agree with your whoring yourself out to any wrestling promotion that will have you… But even you must see it, Brodie. You’ve carved out your own strange little niche here in Valor that I don’t quite understand, but I do acknowledge. You’ve put in your share of work and you, yourself, were here before Vanessa Byrne started trying to change everything. You’re teaming with that change in Cosmo Cooper… By assisting him, you’re working towards your own undoing. Vanessa Byrne does not care about your career, the work you’ve put in, nothing. She would see your flame snuffed out to see Cosmo burn brighter. I’m not suggesting you do anything, in fact, do your job! Do your best, but, I do suggest you think about your future, and how even when you’re in that ring, Cosmo is working towards eradicating the future for any and all of us who were here before him. Who knows? Maybe you’ll grow a spine and fight back before you’re erased as Vanessa Byrne desires us all to be…” He was controlling, even with his words at the moment. It was obvious he had seen this change as something he could use, a tool he could work with to maneuver the people he faced, even his partners. BRENNAN DEVLIN “I’d say the same to Roxi Johnson as I did Brodie, but I honestly gave up on her having any sort of pride in her craft a long time ago. I don’t underestimate her, I just know this is all a chance for her to get over with thots on Twitter. She barely registers anything that happens and phones it all in, she has since the day I met her back in 4 Corners… and once again, she’ll be in the familiar spot of losing to me along with my compatriots in a wrestling match.” Devlin paused, an energy overtaking him as he spit fire, having grown a bit more excited with each and every word. BRENNAN DEVLIN “Here’s the thing, I can say all of this because I am bigger than Valor Pro Wrestling. I don’t need it, but I was a get in its early days and Vanessa Byrne hates that. She hates that I’m not a proper, corporate cock sucking, ‘safe’ bet like Cosmo Cooper to be this companies top star. She doesn’t think any of you can do it either, not a single one of you in this match, nobody that has been here before him and if I were you guys, I wouldn’t be happy to help the man that wants to be all of your undoings. Remember, all of you, if you want to be bigger than Valor if you want to grow and stand taller than this company or any company? You can’t let Cosmo reach the top through nefarious means, you can’t let Vanessa’s machinations come true, because him, her? They’ll hold you down but with me as your champion? This company and each of you will prosper... Whatever the case, whatever happens, Siberia, Davy and myself will overcome our opponents and then? Then I will continue on my collision course with Cosmo Cooper and right the wrongs Vanessa Byrne has created and save the Valor Pro Wrestling we know, the one we signed up for, for each and every one of you out of the kindness of my heart. You’ll thank me later.” Devlin grinned smugly as he went to continue his workout regimen, seemingly rejuvenated in both his career and his aspiration… Would he do as he said and unite the Valor Pro faithful to overcome these changes?!
