Aokigahara Zombie walks into a studio apartment still looking a little disappointed from the missed opportunities of his walk. He shakes out of his leather jacket still in deep thought and he throws it to the side not realizing that Fukushima Zombie lies on the couch where it falls.
“Hey!”
She rips it off and Aokigahara snaps out of his mind and looks at her like he is seeing her for the first time.
“What are you doing here?!”
Fukushima laughs looking a little confused.
“It’s me! I am meeting someone later and I don’t want the attention so I am not wearing the paint.”
Aokigahara frowns for a moment then wraps his jacket around her shoulders.
“All right. Just tell me if you run into any trouble because I don’t want to miss it!”
Fukushima nods and points to the dining at a far off corner.
“Uhh, ok. Look. Siberia is waiting for you. She looks like she means business.”
“What for?”
The corner of the room is lit on a wall by the table.making Siberia strike an ominous silhouette. She sits still on one of two chairs set up around the table. She looks up at Aokigahara and points to the chair in front of her. Aokigahara notices two large cups in front of her and perks up.
“Oh, it’s time for the game!”
He jogs over like an excited child as Fukushima takes this chance to slip away. Aokigahara slows down as he notices the seriousness in Siberia’s face. She wears a sleeveless camisole and puts her hands palms up on the table. Aokigahara nods and takes off his t-shirt displaying his scars and tattoos. A ukiyo-e styled scene of a skeleton and a man dance on his back as he stretches to relax before sitting down. He shows her his palm.
“What are we playing for this time?”
“We are going into one of the most important matches of my career here. They have put us together and we have made it to the end of this. I want to see this through and win these Chimera Tag Team Championships. I want to do it on my own terms. This is a bit of an answer for all the trouble I have brought us. Mostly for her.”
She looks over to where Fukushima was sitting and finds nobody.
“Where did she go?”
Aokigahara picks up the cups and rattles the two dice inside them.
“Probably to go meet with that girl she is messing with.”
Siberia frowns until Aokigahara slams the cup down so that it covers the two dice. He takes a peek and grins widely at the results of this test run.
“So what is it you want exactly?”
Siberia composes herself again and assumes her regal posture.
“I want the ones who have fashioned themselves the stars of this whole thing. The ones that come to usurp my spot as I faltered and fell in the swing of things in Valor. They are the loud ones. They boast so proudly about themselves and their positions that they do not realize just how vulnerable they really are. It is so easy for them too to spin themselves into a frenzy and produce such wild fantasies about their positions based on one little snippet of ignorant epiphanies. They have built themselves up as much as the powers that be have been blinded by the glow that comes off their egos. These two have been made to battle for supremacy as everyone else squabbles amongst themselves. This is our chance to finally touch them and pierce their own little worlds of grandeur.”
Aokigahara rolls the dice in the cup once more and looks up at her before he peeks under it.
“....Cross and Spiral?”
Siberia smirks.
“Don’t be so blinded either. I am of talking about Brennan Devlin and Cosmo Cooper. They do not even realize that the light they use to try to blind others is pointing right at them like floodlights blinding them in the night. As they float in the air without touching the ground they lose sight of what it means to be human. And the people lift them up even further on hot air enthused by their scathing commentaries on the competition each and every show. They came while I was embroiled in my own little world of turmoil and have taken this company out from under me-”
“Have you reached that guy yet? I see you trying to call each night.”
The tension between them grows as Aokigahara keeps his focus on his practice throws and ignores Siberia’s surprised glare. She relaxes again with a deep breath.
“Aokigahara, why were you sent here?”
“To help.”
“Then help me get what I want. I know you won’t just give them to me so let’s play.”
“Why is it so important? We’ll just get them all!”
Siberia picks up her cup and starts rattling her two dice in front of her with the mysterious air of a fortune teller.
“It’s important to me because they have already written me off. They are pitted against each other and I refuse to let this tournament and Valor itself be about their petty squabble. Devlin just irks me. He is so adamant to make the people believe in his own greatness that he attacks the senses like a wild car salesman. He will stop at nothing to make everyone just know that he has done it all and will do it again in the wrestling world. His focus right now is on Cooper but when that fails and breaks he will be unleashed to wreak havoc on others. This is a little annoyance that I can not allow.
“And Cosmo is something to conquer. Everywhere he goes it is the same narrative. He is The Alpha, The Apex, The Rebellion, The big swinging phallus chasing the ring rats but is still oh so pure. He claims to have no equal, especially not in Devlin, but that is just wishful thinking. There is always someone bigger and better. While he is making his wild claims of greatness he does not realize that he is just the same as Devlin. They are self-styled demigods that deserve nothing more than pity from us lowly mortals. Yet it is all done with immature jokes and repetitive nonsense that is lost in the wind the very second it is spewed out into the air from their putrid mouths.
“What’s worse is that they do not realize this. They don’t know their own folly. They do not even deign themselves to understand the other wrestlers. It would be lowering themselves to our level. You need only look at their own ramblings to see that. Just think about how such men, as great as they think they are, have to resort to parody to try to get into the minds of their opponents. That is the only way they think they can relate when at the end of the day they have just as much of a chance of failure as the rest of us. It’s pathetic and sad. I want to be the one to look down at them as they lose themselves in this match and make them fail in their goals because if they succeed Valor will be all the worse for it. We need to be the Chimera Tag Team Champions no matter what.”
Aokigahara listens to her and almost drops the dice outside of the cup as he tries to process it.
“Ok fine. We’ll play for their lives.”
They both nod and shake the dice in their cups and then slam them down in front of each other. They stare each other down for a few intense moments before shouting out their bets at the same time.
Siberia shouts “Cho!” for evens.
Aokigahara shouts “Han!” for odds.
They slowly lift the cups and Siberia claps her hands.
“The game is done! I've won! I've won!”
Aokigahara counts the dice quickly and slams his hand on the table He slaps himself on the forehead a few times before settling. He looks at Siberia and crosses his arms.
“So what do I get?!”
Siberia leans back on her chair.
“You can have the others. I don’t care what you do with them. Maim, tear, bleed and ravage them as you like. You are to be let loose on them as greatly as you with. They all seemed to want this but it is not all that visible to me. They don’t care about Valor so much as they seem to care about their own agendas. Where those others want to rule they just want to get by and get paid. This is wrestling and not some scheme. I want you to show them what a real fight for their lives is as only you can do.”
Aokigahara grins and he looks off into the distance as his eyes glaze over.
“That Cross specifically is just begging for our revenge. He thinks he got one over on us with Fukushima but he has only bought into a whole world of trouble. All his business sense and financial acrobatics won’t be enough to get him out of this one. We won’t be able to keep our momentum going if we don’t make him bleed out for hurting one of ours.”
“Like we did with your boy and his master?”
Siberia stops herself and thinks.Aokigahara stares a hole through her and she looks like a lost child for a moment until she meets his gaze. Her eyes are full of resigned hate.
“Yes. Like we took care of that one.”
Aokigahara laughs hysterically and clasps his hands around the four dice.
“Hey!”
She rips it off and Aokigahara snaps out of his mind and looks at her like he is seeing her for the first time.
