The cab that waited for Siberia was nothing overly glamorous by any means.
The simple black spoke of a sleek efficiency, that suited her purposes far more than the extravagant vehicles her contemporaries seemed to favor.
This vehicle was obviously clean and well maintained, the engine purred, and the black surface was so polished that it shined. To top it off, the leather seats proved to be even more comfortable than she could have hoped for.
So it was with a sigh of exhausted relief that she finally allowed herself to relax into the seats.
"Did I mention I am horrible at being patient once I stop being patient?" The dark smooth voice rumbled through the small cab from the otherside of the thick bullet proof glass.
Siberia leaned forward to see who it was more clearly and saw some familiar smiling eyes in the rear view mirror. She put her hands over her eyes and leaned back into her seat.
"Please tell me this is not happening. Please tell me I am dreaming."
Siberia looks out of the window of the parked car. She considers running. She can either put as much distance between herself and this situation or she can fight. An icy feeling that comes from the pit of her stomach fills her with a rage of memories. She slaps the glass in front of her, but that small action takes everything out of her. She was never a victim of her emotions and this was making her act out. She was just so tired. Siberia leaned back again with a sigh.
"Just drive."
With noncommittal grunt Krähe pulled into the road with careless ease. His car joined the rest of the traffic seamlessly.
The sound of the world outside the car was muffled, but still loud in the silence of the vehicle.
Krähe was proving to be an expert driver, though it was impossible to tell where he was going. He seemed to take turns randomly, at times even circling back to a road he already crossed. All the while he allowed Siberia to stew in her silence.
Siberia was lost in her thoughts. She looked up at the passing streetlights without paying attention where they were going She was in her own world again shut off from everything, but she could feel his presence trying to worm itself in. She knew it would only be a matter of time before the big bad wolf tore the place apart so she had to open up sooner or later.
"I think some congratulations are in order right? Congratulations on slithering your way to the championship, Zacharias."
She didn't know how she wanted that to come out but there it was.
"Ah, so you finally found your voice, but I think you can do much better than that can't you?" His voice was a smooth relaxed rumble through the glass that separated them.
Siberia raised herself up on the seat and rested her head on the glass to get a good look at his side.
"I should be happy for you. I should be glad that it was one of us, but I'm getting into something that you started. I'm in too deep and I can barely breathe."
It was a good thing that the road they were currently driving on was devoid of any other vehicles, because her words had him slamming on the breaks in shock.
Few things in the world truly surprised Krähe anymore, especially those individuals that he'd chosen to study. Her words however hit him like a ton of bricks, and there was no hiding it when he turned to look at her with incredulity.
Krähe: Be happy for me? Siberia my dear you should hate me, rage at me, aim to put as much distance between, plot to destroy me if your hatred burns bright enough, but you should not be happy for me."
With that he turned back to the road once more, but was unable to fully conceal how much her words had unsettled him.
Siberia laughs a little.
"I'm not one for burning out, Krähe. You took what I wanted from me, and now you're forcing me to face it. They're also forcing me to face one of your other problems as if I'm supposed to fight for you. I'm not going to waste my time getting angry. I'll just keep putting up some walls and focus on what I need to do to get back at you."
She keeps her head on the glass, but looks at the road.
"Why did you do it?"
Silence stretched out in the car once more at her question. Silence that was shortly broken by the sound of rain slowly starting to strike the car windows, until little by little it turned into a steady downpour.
Something about the rain seemed to put Krähe at ease. Soon his carefully careless mask feel back into place.
"You make a deal you keep it...I had a job to do. It's not how I wanted to face you, but when my shoulder took that much damage I had to compensate."
His speed slowed as the rain came down harder his lights and windshield wipers flicking on.
"Once I start something I never really stop until it's done...besides I realized that you are far better off hating me now." His eyes flicked up into the rearview mirror only for a moment to meet her eyes.
"So fuck being happy for me Si, just hate me. Do you think I personally care that much about winning to feed my own ego? Have you not experienced my ego yet? I don't need a belt to validate myself, as far as I'm concerned it's nothing more than a paperweight that comes with far more baggage than I like."
Siberia stared back at him with a wide eyed expression of awe. A big smile started to form on her face and she just laughed. It began with a small giggle, and bubbled it's way up to a chuckle until it became a full on laugh.
She threw herself back into her chair as she let loose and became a hysterical fit of laughter. Her body convulsed as she tried to calm down, but the laughing fit caught up to her again and again. Her eyes bulged as she let it all out there not caring that Z was watching her.
When it began to die down she lay down across the back seat and waited until the laughter completely left her like a spirit leaving a dead body. She only sat upright when the was confident she would only be the ghost.
Siberia was expressionless again. Sombre. Cold. She looked at the window and watched the raindrops fall and make trails on the glass.
"So it's all about work. I have heard a lot about your boss from mines, and from the little sister. Little did they know that one day their paths would cross again... I have a job too, Krähe. Do you know what it is? It's to rule this place and let my influence dictate the company's direction into one that we prefer. I can't believe you let me get so distracted, but now you have cleared my mind. I guess I should thank you."
"I will accept that gratitude if its actually genuine. Funny how a ride to nowhere can clear your head...Now goodbye Siberia. Next time we meet in the ring don't hesitate." With his final words the car came to a stop back in front of her hotel.
How he managed to take her back there without her realizing it wasn't really worth thinking about.
"Oh, don't worry about that meeting you had to go to. It never existed." His words were nonchalant, while he pulled on dark metal rimmed sunglasses.
"Next time you won't be so lucky... I don't like how you look in those glasses, by the way. You shouldn't hide those pretty eyes."
Siberia put a hand on the glass between them for just a second before forcing herself out of the car and into the rain. She looked up and let the water fall over her hair and face waiting for him to leave.
One scarred hand tightened on the wheel before it was forced to relax. It was impossible to tell with his glasses on whether or not he glanced back at her in his rearview before pulling away.
