Wrestler Name: Danny Rizzo
Nickname(s): "The Risen", "The UnYielding" "Dream Killer"
Picture Base: Johnny Gargano
Age: 25
Billed From: Dayton, Ohio
Height: 5'11
Weight: 202 lbs.
Alignment (Heel, Face, Tweener): Tweener
Entrance Music: "A Warriors Call" by Volbeat
Personality: Danny has a bit of an edge to him from his experiences early on in his tenure in Valor Pro. This, along with the influence of Kaven Drell, has lead to him being more concerned for his own well being and less concerned with the approval his peers and, in particular, the approval of the fans.
History: From the moment Danny Rizzo set foot inside of a Valor Pro Wrestling ring, he found magic. A fatal four way match that introduced him, along with three other competitors new to the VPW scene, saw him shock the world and steal a win from a veterans NovaCaine, Allison Sullivan and Fallon Lockhart. Though that shock victory would be followed up with a string of losses that tested his heart for the business. Perhaps the lowest moment of his career saw him, and newfound friend Leela Watts, attacked by NovaCaine, an event that would lead to Leela Watts leaving Valor to take time away from the wrestling business. The end result of a bitter blood feud between Danny and NovaCaine would culminate at Valor's PPV "Allegiance" where Danny would win a resounding victory and send NovaCaine scurrying for the hills.
With the fans firmly behind him, and momentum back in his corner, Danny would be pitted against the terrifying enigma that is Brodie in an UnYielding Championship match. Against all odds, Danny dethroned the woman who had brought stability and respectability to the UnYielding Championship and embarked upon a championship reign that was both unexpected, and predicted to end quickly. Yet with the fans at his back he continued to survive and defend the UnYielding Championship against all odds. That momentum would lead to him entering the Quag Cup tournament hosted by billionaire Alessandro Quagliaterre at his mansion in New Jersey. As his tournament run began, Danny's successes continued and brought him to a turning point in his career with a second round matchup against Katya Djurdevic on a Saturday evening, and an UnYielding Championship defense against the same woman the following Sunday evening.
As the build to both of those matches began, the chaotic presence of Kaven Drell began to show signs in the personality of Danny, who began to speak a bit more harshly toward his opponent. The weight of the tournament and championship beginning to weigh on him, and the persistent attacks by fellow roster members in Valor Pro (namely Spiral and Dakota Jennings), Danny was victorious in the first meeting with Katya at the Quag Cup. But it was at Rite of Kings the following night where the change fully revealed itself. Having neutralized Katya for a moment Danny, with a steel chair in hand and Kaven Drell encouraging him, got himself disqualified by blasting Katya in the head with said steel chair. Immediately, and to any objective viewer, it was no surprise that the fans swiftly turned on Danny. And though the result of his actions left Katya with a victory, it also allowed him to retain his championship. He would later explain that he knew he had her beaten one way or the other, and the chair shot was simply a message sent to the rest of the roster that he was done being taken advantage of.
Blitz 17 would see Danny defend his UnYielding championship against previously undefeated Jack Dempsey, and then follow up his victory by interrupting the post main event celebration of Cosmo Cooper and Katya Djurdevic in their victory over Chris Callum and Brodie, sending another message to the world that Danny was done allowing others to take the spotlight he felt he had rightfully earned. At Blitz 18, a Rite of Kings rematch was scheduled between Danny and Katya and, after a hotly contested match, Danny once more prevailed and, in his mind, silenced the doubters who said he could not beat her by pinning her to the mat. With that victory, Danny cemented himself as both the longest reigning UnYielding champion, and also the champion in VPW with the most championship defenses.
