Wrestler Name: Gia Van Zant
Nickname(s): The Happiest Sadist
Picture Base: Frances Bean Cobain
Age: 26
Billed From: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 137 lbs.
Alignment (Heel, Face, Tweener): Heel
Entrance Music: Poppy - I Disagree
Personality: Picture a sequel to American Psycho, but the new main character isn't a yuppie, more like... Ke$ha's old stage persona. She's a little bit Poppy and a little bit Jennifer's Body.
History: Gia keeps a pretty tight lid on her childhood background, though a frequent viewer of her YouTube channel might know she grew up in foster care and sharpened her shit-talking and fist-throwing reflexes early due to being a target of bullying. It didn't take much for her to figure out she liked hurting people. Guiding her life into pro wrestling was pretty natural-- its flair for trainwreck drama was just her flavor. She got a rough start, signing up with High Octane Wrestling during an era before women in wrestling were booming and the company only had one other female wrestler. The company delighted in touring rough areas of the world and she ended up in a tour of North Korea, where she caught typhoid fever. She recovered and returned, but ended up leaving the company anyway in the end when she got bored of the roster having no trashtalk jokes other than "you have a vagina!"
A couple short stints in the indies later, and she'd ended up with a following on YouTube from her promos posted there going viral-- full on featured by Worldstar Hip Hop, as people not even interested in wrestling found her sharp tongue something to rubberneck at. Turns out being acerbic on social media CAN actually be a career choice. She continued in the indies, but focused more attention on YouTube until mid-2018. Eastern Wrestling Alliance caught her eye and she moved to Boston, requesting to go through their developmental territory rather than debut on the main roster, seeking to improve her technical skills. It worked-- well, before she and then-boyfriend William West ended up getting her banned from developmental territory. They finangled her a spot on the main roster, where she was until the company's closing. She's lost touch with West, but learned a few tricks that are here to stay from the submissions expert formerly known as The Crippler.
She moved on to World Wrestling Headquarters Sanatorium brand next, debuting in late February 2019, and has yet to be pinned there. Despite ravenous success, bookings are sparse and opportunities are even sparser. She teamed up with a wrestler named Dash and they won the Tag Championships, then solidified the team by bringing in a manager (Helena Modani) and dubbing themselves Diamond Dogs.
But after collecting dust in the promotion, stuck in NorCal without even having defended that belt since it was won months ago? She's ready to broaden her horizons. A place this hype on international travel sounds like just the ticket. What plans might she have in Valor? Wait and see.
Past Accomplishments: WWH Tag Team Champion (as part of Diamond Dogs)
Wrestling Style (Power, Striker, Brawler, etc): Technical with calculated high-flying, unabashed cheating seemingly for fun.
Ground Moves:
Arm triangle choke
Standing Moves:
Matrix evasion
Pumphandle slam (when within her lifting range)
Savate kick
Enzuigiri
Dropkick
Running Moves:
Running high knee strike
Running crossbody
Rolling wheel kick
Springboard roundhouse
Aerial Moves:
Somersault tope
Elevated crossbody
Missile dropkick
Signature Moves:
1. Just Like In The Movies - curbstomp
2. Saito suplex (when within her lifting range)
- Not every match, but known to blow yellow or black microglitter in her opponent's eyes to blind them.
Finishing Move(s):
1. Bionic - Spiral Tap (Corkscrew somersault legdrop, from the top rope)
2. Irresistible Force - Cattle Mutilation (bridging grounded double chickenwing)
Manager: Helena "HelBeast" Modani (Summer Bishil, often with eyepatch, though Hel also has a prosthetic)
Manager Type: Hel is a general entertainment talent manager, this is her first wrestling client and she was never a professional wrestler. At 5'3" and 95 pounds, she's not exactly intimidating physically...
But the woman doesn't lack in brash guts, and she earned her nickname (among other, cruder ones) mostly from record execs due to her contract negotiation tactics. She does accompany Gia to the ring and will feed her weapons concealed in her oversized luxury handbags, but doesn't have to be there every match-- it's not like her client reeeeeally needs help cheating or talking shit every show, the both of them just like to feel like bigshots.
